Final Grade Calculator
Enter your current grade, how much the final exam is worth and the grade you want. You will see exactly what you need on the final, plus your result for different exam scores.
The formula
Required final score = (target grade – current grade x (1 – final weight)) / final weight.
Example: your current grade is 78%, the final is worth 40%, and you want 80%. You need (80 – 78 x 0.6) / 0.4 = (80 – 46.8) / 0.4 = 83% on the final.
Tips if the number looks scary
- Ask whether any assignments or quizzes can still be submitted or improved.
- Check if your teacher drops the lowest mark.
- Focus your study time on the topics that are worth the most on the exam.
- Remember a passing grade is often 50% in Canadian high schools and colleges, and some programs require 60% or more.
