Discount Calculator
See what you will really pay: the sale price after one or two discounts, how much you save, and the total including sales tax for your province.
How to calculate a discount
Sale price = original price x (1 – discount / 100). A $120 item at 25% off costs $120 x 0.75 = $90. You save $30.
Stacked discounts are not added
“25% off plus an extra 10%” is not 35% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price: $120 x 0.75 x 0.90 = $81, which is a 32.5% total discount.
Do not forget the tax
In Canada, sales tax is calculated on the discounted price. With 13% HST in Ontario, the $90 item costs $101.70 at the till. Rates go from 5% (Alberta and the territories) to 15% (Atlantic provinces).

FAQ
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 – discount). A $60 item at 40% off was $60 / 0.6 = $100.
