Hourly to Salary Calculator

Convert an hourly wage to an annual salary, or a salary to hourly, daily, weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly pay. Adjust hours per week and paid weeks per year.

How to convert hourly pay to salary

Annual salary = hourly wage x hours per week x weeks per year. At $25 an hour, 40 hours a week and 52 weeks: 25 x 40 x 52 = $52,000 a year. A quick rule: double the hourly wage and add three zeros ($25 an hour is about $50,000).

Common conversions (40 hours a week, 52 weeks)

HourlyMonthlyAnnual
$18$3,120$37,440
$20$3,467$41,600
$25$4,333$52,000
$30$5,200$62,400
$40$6,933$83,200
$50$8,667$104,000

Bi-weekly vs. semi-monthly

Bi-weekly pay comes every two weeks, 26 times a year, so two months each year have three pay days. Semi-monthly pay comes twice a month, 24 times a year, usually on the 15th and the last day. A $52,000 salary is $2,000 bi-weekly or $2,166.67 semi-monthly.

Gross pay vs. take-home pay

These figures are before deductions. Your net pay is lower after federal and provincial income tax, CPP (or QPP in Quebec), EI and any benefits or pension contributions. Many full-time jobs in Canada are 37.5 or 40 hours a week; change the hours to match your contract, and lower the weeks if you take unpaid time off.
