Fraction Calculator
Type fractions like 3/4, mixed numbers like 1 1/2, or decimals like 0.25. The answer is simplified automatically and shown as a fraction, mixed number, decimal and percent.
How to add and subtract fractions
Fractions need a common denominator before you add or subtract them. Multiply each fraction so both bottoms match, then add or subtract the tops. Example: 3/4 + 2/3 = 9/12 + 8/12 = 17/12 = 1 5/12.
How to multiply and divide fractions
To multiply, multiply the numerators together and the denominators together: 2/3 x 3/5 = 6/15 = 2/5. To divide, flip the second fraction and multiply: 3/4 / 1/2 = 3/4 x 2/1 = 6/4 = 1 1/2.
Simplifying fractions
Divide the top and bottom by their greatest common divisor. 18/24 has a GCD of 6, so it simplifies to 3/4. The calculator does this for every answer.
